Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Saum (fasting) is a shield (or a screen or a shelter from the Hell-fire). So, the person observing Saum should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should say to him twice, ‘I am observing Saum.'” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) added, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a person observing Saum is better with Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), ‘He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The Saum is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times.'” (Bukhari)

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported from Rasulullah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrating in a Hadith Qudsi that Allah (Azza wa Jaal) said: Spend, (O, man), I shall spend on you. And then Rasulullah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The Hand (treasures) of Allah is full, and spending day and night continuously does not effect its fullness. And he said: Do you see, what He has spent since He created the sky and the earth? And His ‘Arsh (Throne) was over the waters. Indeed this has not decreased that which is in His Hand. In His Hand is the Scale (of Justice), whereby He raises and lowers (people). (Bukhari)

Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw a gold ring on the hand of a man; so he removed it and threw it away and said: How can anyone of you want to place a burning coal in his hand? It was said to the man, after Rasulullah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had left: Take your ring and benefit thereby. He replied: No! By Allah, I will never take it, as Rasulullah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) had thrown it away. (Muslim)
Note: It is forbidden for men to wear golden ornaments.

Narrated Aisha (RA): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to like to start from the right side on wearing shoes, combing his hair and cleaning or washing himself and on doing anything else. (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): People say that I have narrated many Ahadith (The Prophet’s narrations). Had it not been for two verses in the Qur’an, I would not have narrated a single Hadith, and the verses are: “Verily those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance which We have sent down after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers. Except those who repent and do righteous deeds and openly declare (the truth which they concealed)……… (upto) …….. Most Merciful.” (V2:159-160). And no doubt our Muhajir (emigrant) brothers used to be busy in the market with their business (bargains) and our Ansari brothers used to be busy with their property (agriculture). But I (Abu Huraira) used to stick to Allah’s Messenger ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) contented with what will fill my stomach and I used to attend that which they used not to attend and I used to memorize that which they used not to memorize. (Bukhari)

Narrated (Tarif Abi Tamima): Jundub (RA) said that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, “Whoever does a good deed in order to show off, Allah will expose his intentions on the Day of Resurrection (before the people), and whoever puts the people into difficulties, Allah will put him into difficulty on the Day of Resurrection.” The people said (to Jundub) “Advise us.” He said, “The first thing of the human body to putrefy is the abdomen, so he who can eat nothing but good food ( halal and earned lawfully) should do so, and he who does as much as he can that nothing intervene between him and Paradise by not shedding even a handful of blood, (i.e. murdering) should do so.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Ma’qil bin Yasar (RA): I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, “Any man whom Allah has given authority of ruling some people and he does not look after them in an honest manner will never have even the smell of Paradise.” (Bukhari)

Allah made it obligatory upon us to obey Rasulullah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). To obey him regarding what is halal and what is haram:
“Those who follow the apostle, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel;- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper.” [Qur’aan 7:157]
“He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah.” [Qur’aan 4:80]
“Say: If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you sins.” [Qur’aan 3:31]
“And obey Allah and the Messenger, that ye may obtain mercy.” [Qur’aan 3:132]
Allah sent Rasulullah ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with the Qur’an to teach us our religion. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the living example as to how we should lead our life. Allah sent him at a time when the world was rampant with corruption and evil. When the world needed guidance, Allah sent him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as a mercy to mankind.

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): Allah’s Messenger (Peace and Blessings be upon him)said, “Not to wish to be the like of (or there is no envy) except in two: A person whom Allah has taught the Qur’an and he recites it during the hours of the night and during the hours of the day, and his neighbor listens to him and says, ‘I wish I had been given what has been given to so-and-so, so that I might do what he does’; and a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it on what is just and right, whereupon another person may say, ‘ I wish I had been given what so-and-so has been given, for then I would do what he does.'” (Bukhari)
